Sauna Vapor Barrier
Aluminum Foil Sauna Vapor Barrier for saunas is backed with super strength brown kraft paper for durability when installing with staples. Sauna Vapor Barrier works best when overlapping seams 2-3 inches and it is not necessary to tape seal seams. However, best results are achieved by sealing seams with foil heating duct tape. This is the best vapor barrier for traditional Finnish saunas using water on sauna heater rocks for steam.
The design of foil sauna vapor barrier is tested and proven to be very effective at keeping moisture out of sauna walls and ceiling. Other types of conventional vapor barrier are not designed for high heat environment of a sauna. High sauna temperatures will break down and deteriorate most other types of vapor barrier and as a result, possibly release harmful gases into sauna room and eventually allow moisture into walls.
Sauna Vapor Barrier not only keeps moisture out of walls, it also adds 1R of insulating value by reflecting heat energy back into the sauna room. Install vapor barrier after insulating walls with typical R11
fiberglass insulation for indoor saunas, or up to R19 for better
efficiency in outdoor saunas. Then install T & G wood sauna paneling over foil vapor barrier. Stainless steel nails are recommended when installing sauna paneling on walls and ceiling.
